On the occasion of receiving the Premio Sicilia, Eduardo Mendoza retraces one of the most original journeys in contemporary fiction. In his books, genre parody, humor, and a penchant for disorder become tools to chronicle the history and transformations of Spanish society. The narrative is thus built upon a shifting balance between truth and fiction, where the reader is called to navigate, accepting the rules of a game that continually subverts them.
