Irony and Disenchantment

Premio Sicilia to Eduardo Mendoza
In collaboration with the Embassy of Spain in Italy and the Instituto Cervantes of Palermo

On the occasion of receiving the Premio Sicilia, Eduardo Mendoza retraces one of the most original journeys in contemporary fiction. In his books, genre parody, humor, and a penchant for disorder become tools to chronicle the history and transformations of Spanish society. The narrative is thus built upon a shifting balance between truth and fiction, where the reader is called to navigate, accepting the rules of a game that continually subverts them.
