Once upon a time America: Europe, Trump, and the future of transatlantic relations

Donald Trump shook the foundations of the post-war international order built by the USA, undermining transatlantic relations without a clear strategy. He abandoned support for Ukraine, favoring a peace imposed by Moscow, and broke Atlantic solidarity by questioning NATO. He imposed tariffs on alliens and launched a trade war deemed “stupid” by the Wall Street Journal. His hostile narrative fractured the concept of the West, leaving Europe facing uncertainty: Is Trump an anomaly or does he signal an irreversible shift in the USA? Regardless of the answer, Europe must strengthen its  strategic autonomy.
