As Pirandello is (if you think so)

Lectio Magistralis by Matteo Collura

Cum-finis

In this lecture, Matteo Collura delves beyond the moralistic aura that surrounds Luigi Pirandello, bringing us closer to the real man and artist he was. Not the idealized “good father of the family” as often depicted, Pirandello was considered a monster by his wife, constantly ahead of his time in his creativity but often misunderstood and opposed by those around him. In his personal unhappiness, he found the most powerful impulse to create his masterpieces. The culmination of his emotional struggles came in his later years when he was accompanied by Marta Abba, the actress he loved with an obsessive, total, and desperate love.

Matteo Collura offers a portrait of a complex and contradictory Pirandello, divided between brilliance and suffering, capable of transforming his personal pain into immortal theater and literature.
