Ha vinto due volte il Premio Pulitzer, grazie ai romanzi The Nickel Boys e The Underground Railroad, quest’ultimo vincitore anche del National Book Award. Beneficiario di borse di studio MacArthur Foundation e Guggenheim Foundation, vive a New York City.
