Sandro Veronesi

Sandro Veronesi (Florence, April 1, 1959) is an Italian writer and journalist. After earning a degree in Architecture in Florence in 1985, he chose to devote himself entirely to literature. He made his debut in 1988 with the novel Per dove parte questo treno allegro. He is the only author since Paolo Volponi to have won the Strega Prize twice: in 2006 for Caos calmo (La Nave di Teseo) and in 2020 for Il colibrì (La Nave di Teseo), which was adapted into a 2022 film of the same name starring Pierfrancesco Favino. Caos calmo also won the 2008 Prix Femina étranger and the Premio Mediterraneo. His novel Settembre nero (La Nave di Teseo, 2024) recounts the summer of 1972. He is also a screenwriter and contributes to major publications.
