Manuel Valls

Born on August 13, 1962, in Spain and naturalized as a French citizen in 1982, Manuel Valls is married and has four children. He began his political career while studying history at the Sorbonne, joining the Parti Socialiste in 1980. After serving in the governments of Michel Rocard and Lionel Jospin, he was Mayor of Évry from 2001 to 2012 and a Member of Parliament from 2002 to 2018. He subsequently held the offices of Minister of the Interior (2012–2014), Prime Minister of France (2014–2016), City Councilor of Barcelona (2019–2021), and Minister of State for the French Overseas Territories (2024–2025).
