Lucetta Scaraffia

Lucetta Scaraffia (Turin, 1948) is an Italian historian and journalist. She taught Contemporary History for forty years at Sapienza University of Rome and was a visiting professor at the Sorbonne in Paris. Her research has focused on the role of women in history and female religiosity. She founded and directed the women’s supplement of L’Osservatore Romano. Since 2007, she has been a member of the National Bioethics Committee. Since 2017, she has been an Officer of the Legion of Honour. A columnist for Avvenire, Il Foglio, Corriere della Sera, and La Stampa, she is the author of numerous history books.
