Elvira Terranova is a professional journalist and Senior Editor at the Adnkronos news agency, where she heads the Sicily desk. She primarily covers current affairs, as well as court and crime reporting. Born in Frankfurt to a Sicilian family, she built her career between Germany and Sicily, contributing to local broadcasters and regional daily newspapers since the early 1990s. She was awarded the honor of Cavaliere dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, for saving a Nigerian newborn during a shipwreck off the coast of Lampedusa. For this act, she also received the Gold Medal for Civil Valor from the Sicily Region.
