Carlo Ratti

Carlo Ratti is a scientist, designer and public intellectual focused on the future of cities and the built environment. He is one of the ten most cited scholars in urban planning, teaches at MIT in Boston and is a Distinguished Professor at the Politecnico di Milano. He is also a founding member of CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati and has started various startups. Her work explores the impact of big data and digital technologies on urban life, mobility, participatory urban design and the convergence of the natural and artificial worlds. He co-founded the MIT Senseable City Lab, published over 750 scientific papers, and worked on applied projects around the world. He is known for pioneering the use of mobile phone data in urban studies and for his research on urban mobility. As an architect, he has developed innovative projects in many cities around the world. Ratti is also curator of international exhibitions and consultant for global organizations. His vision for the cities of the future is based on integration and has received awards from Forbes, Wired and Esquire. His work has been exhibited in major museums and global publications.
