Dacia Maraini

Dacia Maraini is one of Italy’s most widely read and beloved authors. She is the author of numerous novels, including La lunga vita di Marianna Ucrìa (winner of the 1990 Campiello Prize) and Buio (winner of the 1999 Strega Prize). She is considered one of the most important voices in contemporary Italian literature and is among the most translated abroad. Her most recent novel is Vita (Rizzoli), in which she recounts her childhood internment in a concentration camp for anti-fascists in Japan. Her recently published collections include Scritture segrete (Rizzoli) and Anche i cani a volte volano (Solferino).
