Haruki Murakami

A Japanese writer and translator, born in Kyoto in 1949. Among the most translated and widely read Japanese novelists in the world, his works blend realism and surrealism, Western pop culture, and the Japanese literary tradition. His most celebrated novels include Norwegian Wood, La città e le sue mura incerte, Kafka sulla spiaggia, and 1Q84. The recipient of numerous international awards, in 2026 he is awarded the Taobuk Award.
