Anish Kapoor (Mumbai, March 12, 1954) is a British sculptor of Indian origin, considered one of the leading contemporary artists. Having trained in London at the Hornsey College of Art and the Chelsea School of Art, he lives and works in the British capital. His monumental and conceptual works explore the themes of matter, the void, color, and perception, and are featured in major museum collections and public spaces worldwide. His most celebrated works include Cloud Gate in Chicago, Marsyas at the Tate Modern in London, and Dirty Corner in Versailles. In 1991, he won the Turner Prize. In 2013, he was knighted by the British Crown.
