An Italian-born, naturalized French actress, director, and screenwriter. Throughout her career in Italy, she has won four David di Donatello Awards for Best Actress for La seconda volta (1996), La parola amore esiste (1998), Il capitale umano (2014), and La pazza gioia (2017), as well as a David di Donatello for Best Supporting Actress for L’arte della gioia (2025).
In France, she won a César Award for Most Promising Actress for Le persone normali non hanno niente di eccezionale (1994). She has also received three Best Actress nominations at the European Film Awards. Her directorial debut, È più facile per un cammello… (2003), won awards at the Tribeca Film Festival and the Prix Louis-Delluc, in addition to receiving nominations for the César Awards and the Nastri d’Argento.
