War/Peace

Where the Border Is Crossed

Is limes a limit?

The book Guerra o Pace (Solferino) by Giulio Tremonti explores the dichotomy that runs through both human history and our contemporary world: on one side, war—not only as armed conflict but also as economic and technological warfare; on the other, peace—understood as an unstable balance between emerging and traditional powers. The “discovery” of Asia, the rise of the digital network, and the conflicts on the eastern borders are just some of the phenomena shaping a new world order in which Europe risks being sidelined. It’s a narrative that forces us to reflect on how modern wars are no longer confined to battlefields, but reach into our lives, our political choices, and our sense of security.
