Paola Cortellesi

Paola Cortellesi is an actress, author, screenwriter and singer. Since 1995 she has worked in theatre, cinema, radio and television. Trained at the acting training school of Beatrice Bracco, she made her debut in theatre in 1995. After several attendees in radio programs, in 1998 she landed in the broadcast of G. Boncompagni Macao. Then, she will be the host of the well-known Rai2 program Libero. On television, she ranges from classic varieties such as Uno di noi (with Gianni Morandi - Rai1) to satirical programmes for which she is also the main author of the texts, such as Mai dire gol, for which she won the Oscar TV as female character of the year in 2001, and Nessundorma (2004), her first "one woman show" (Rai2).

In the same year she joined Simona Ventura in the running of the 54th Sanremo Festival. In music she collaborated with the author Claudio Mattone with whom at the age of thirteen she made her debut by singing the piece Cacao Meravigliao for the program of Renzo Arbore Indietro tutta. She sung with Elio e le storie tese and she also dueted with many artists including: Gianni Morandi, Claudio Baglioni, Jovanotti, Laura Pausini, Tiziano Ferro, Giorgia, Enzo Jannacci, Negramaro. On cinema she has played different roles for many Italian directors including Carlo Verdone, Carlo Mazzacurati, Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, Riccardo Milani, Cristina Comencini, Luca Miniero, Massimiliano Bruno, Fausto Brizzi Aldo Giovanni and Giacomo, Gianluca Maria Tavarelli, Enzo Monteleone. In 2007 she made her debut in fiction with the two episodes miniseries Maria Montessori (directed by G.M.Tavarelli – Canale 5), for which she won the prize for best actress at the first 2007 edition of the Roma Fiction Fest and the 2008 Grolla d'Oro for best actress. She joined Claudio Bisio on the variety stage Zelig in the 2011 and 2012 editions. For the film Nessuno mi può giudicare she won the David di Donatello 2011 as best actress protagonist and the Ciak d'oro as film character of the year. In the same year she dubbed one of the character of the Disney film Pixar Cars 2. In the context of Nastri d’Argento 2015, she was awarded the Nino Manfredi Prize by the Sindacato Nazionale Critici Cinematografici Italiani and by Erminia Manfredi. It was the first time a woman had won the prize. In December 2015 she host the show Callas with Dario Fo, by Dario Fo, aired on Rai 1. In June 2017 she was a guest at the Italian Contemporary Film Festival in Toronto where she was awarded Best Actress ICFF 2017 for her acting in the two films: Qualcosa di nuovo by Cristina Comencini and Mamma o papà by her husband Riccardo Milani.
