Farian Sabahi (1967) is a writer and journalist specializing in the Middle East and in particular Iran and Yemen, with a particular focus on gender issues.
After her PhD in Iran's History (on education in Iran in the 1960s and 1970s) at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, she did her post-doc research on Iran's oil economy (buy-back contracts) and on on the free trade zones in the Persian Gulf. She currently teaches International Relations in the Middle East at the University of Valle d'Aosta. She regularly writes on Corriere della Sera, on the weekly Io Donna and on Il Manifesto. She collaborates with the radio stations Rai Uno, RaiNews24, BBC Persian and Radio Popolare.
