David Garrett

David Garrett

Having picked up his first violin at the age of four, David Garrett studied with, among others, Zahkar Bron and Ida Haendel.

His extraordinary and multifaceted talent was soon discovered: as a child prodigy, David Garrett made his stage debut at the age of 10. At 13, he became the youngest artist ever to sign with the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon. He has worked with legendary conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Claudio Abbado and Yehudi Menuhin. At the age of only fifteen, he recorded all 24 of Paganini’s Capricci, undoubtedly some of the most challenging pieces ever written for the violin. Yehudi Menuhin called him ‘the greatest violinist of his generation’. It was at this point in his career that he decided to hone and expand his skills, enrolling at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York: he thus became a student of Itzhak Perlman.

From his graduation to the present day, David Garrett has worked with the most extraordinary conductors, including Zubin Mehta, Christoph Eschenbach, Riccardo Chailly and Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
